Can You Call it a "Rut" if You Enjoy it This Much?

It's no secret we are a food-lovin' family.

A big reason we chose this house to rent was due to the bounty it brought.

(plums are almost ripe)

So it should come as no surprise that a lot of my reading and watching is centered around what I'm calling (and I'm not the only one) the Food Memoir.

I'm going to share my wealth of resource titles - feel free to point out any I've missed. Also - if anyone knows how to set up one of those lists on Amazon where I can put a button on the side of the blog and then it goes to the list and you can see all of the information about the book you want...that would be awesome.

These are in no particular order, and the links will take you to the author's blog/website.

Food Books:

* Plenty: One Man, One Woman, and a Raucous Year of Eating Locally - Alisa Smith and JB Mackinnon (also called The 100 Mile Diet)
* The Art of Simple Food: Notes, Lessons, and Recipes from a Delicious Revolution - Alice Waters
* Heat: An amateur Cook in a Professional Kitchen - Bill Buford
* Fast Food Nation - Eric Schlosser

  1. Add "Blood, Bones and Butter" by Gabrielle Hamilton to that list. Best chef's memoir I've ever read!

  2. Awesome list! I just gave Animal, Vegetable, Miracle to my grandma and she loved it. I would also add any book by M.F.K. Fisher, especially How to Cook a Wolf. I just love her writing.

  3. Great list. On my food-related to-read/to-explore list: "Eating Animals" by Jonathan Safran Foer, "What to Eat" by Marion Nestle, "Food Matters: A Guide to Conscious Eating with More Than 75 Recipes" by Mark Bittman (you know I'm obsessed), "The American Way of Eating: Undercover at Walmart, Applebee's, Farm Fields and the Dinner Table" by Tracie McMillan and "The Feed Zone Cookbook: Fast and Flavorful Food for Athletes" by Biju Thomas (saw this at a local bike shop and thought of it for Rob before his 100-mile ride; maybe for Steve too?)

    1. Shelly - we have the Feed Zone Cookbook - I got it for Steve for Christmas. He LOVES it, but I haven't so much as opened the cover.

And here I thought my TBR list was starting to dwindle - but this has certainly bolstered it. Thanks, guys!
