Her "After" is very involved. I'm not that ambitious.
Then there was another post on another blog...again a little ambitious for me...although we have also had the foam tiles in our kitchen. Whether they will return again completely depends on my floor-cleaning schedule.
So anyway, here's my before: (from June, but fairly accurate in terms of neatness and what the floor looked like)
Pretty bright, considering the part of the house they're in. I went to home depot and got some primer and paint.
After one coat of primer:
After a second coat of primer, two coats of paint and sealer.
A friend of mine, after the last house post, said "where the crap is your tv?!?" It's that hulking tube screen in the corner back there.
I think we'll like it. And that mantel back there, it's a work in progress. Don't worry: it should be done in time for me to decorate for Christmas....
I love this idea. Seriously LOVE! Despite having very hard, all tile floors, I never purchased the ever popular foam tiles because I think they're so darned ugly. Painted, they look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I just wish it hadn't taken me so long to do it. Isn't it amazing what a coat of paint can do?
ReplyDeleteAren't those tiles for kids to play on? Isn't primer and paint toxic for kids to play on that closely with toys that go into their mouth?
ReplyDeleteValid concerns, but the paints I used were as non-toxic as possible (which helps seal in the foam off gassing) and my child is past the point of putting toys in his mouth. When the next child comes along, I will spread out a blanket for playing on anyway, since it's the floor and we walk on it and laying down a clean blanket is easier than mopping everyone we want some tummy time.
